The
aims and the objectives of the Progressive Education Society has laid down in
its constitution are ‘to impart generally to the rising generations of its
country and particularly to the residents of Maharashtra state, an efficient
pre-primary, primary, secondary, higher secondary and collegiate education,
embodying a literacy, scientific, technical, commercial and Industrial training
and the training of teacher by the establishment at Pune and other places in the
Maharashtra state, as circumstance permits of pre-primary, primary, secondary,
higher secondary schools and colleges or by such other means as may be most
conducive to the attainment of the aims and objectives of the society.

After 1986 , a past student of
Modern High School, Dean of Medical faculty of Pune University and a
renowned surgeon from Pune Dr. Gajanan R. Ekbote took the charge of P.E.
Society as a chairman. Under this able and dynamic personality the society
progressed and flourished in all dimensions.
Progressive Education Society
has expanded its activities and stated the various institutions such as
Shishu Vidya Mandir, Modern High School, Ganeshkhind, N.C.L. English medium
school and a hostel for girls. In 1970 Modern College (Arts, Commerce and
Science) was established.
